Black Friday
Every year our society is constantly obsessed with the idea of Black Friday. Stay up all night and buy as much as you can on all the amazing deals. But my question is why? Why does everyone get so crazy over discounted goods? We hear the stories of people getting trampled, people using pepper spray, long lines that go on for hours and it makes me confused. I don't get why we need to be like crazed animals fighting each other for a discounted camera or TV. I know why stores do it because of capitalism, and they greatly benefit over peoples obsession over Black Friday. I see on Facebook all these posts that sound so miserable of people at these stores so early in the morning. It just made me feel glad that me or anyone in my family isn't that crazy to fight off hordes of people for material goods. But thats what our world has come too, materialism is continuing to become an important factor for people.

This year was the first year I participated in Black Friday-- I went to a mall at midnight and it was crazy! I can't stand the long lines and claustrophobia is definitely not saving a couple of dollars, but it was a fun kind of social experience I must say :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I think people act crazy especially when people get killed. However, Black Friday is one of my favorite days of the year solely because it is crazy! I didn't sleep this Black Friday and I just walked around the mall until 7 am. its so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI agree that Black Friday is messed up, but I love going anyways. However, this year was my first time actually being injured, and I wasn't staying in line! Some old lady slammed her cart into my foot twice and glared at me because I couldn't get around a stop in the aisle. I must say, I was a little upset but also proud of my mark. haha
